A Referee Uniform Order Form is now available on our web site under "Links". This is the form which is normally passed out in the Entry Level Referee Course as a convienence to students who wish to use it. Students are encouraged to shop around for their uniform and those who are internet savey, may choose to get it online. Sports, Etc.'s order form is provided to students, as the area instructors have purchased from them in the past with no problems or complaints. No one affiliated with this web site or any Columbia Area Referee Course has any financial involvement or gain as a result of any purchase made through Sports, Etc.

Maryland Soccer Referees Yahoo Group Launched !

Effective August 11, 2005 the Maryland Soccer Referees have a Yahoo Group. The group is exclusive to licensed USSF Referees in the State of Maryland. Joining is easy and at no cost. Simply go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MarylandSoccerReferees  and request to join. You don't have to have a Yahoo Email Address but you must identify yourself in your profile by name so that Craig Proffen, Yahoo Group Administrator, can verify you are a current USSF Licensed Referee.

The purpose of the Yahoo group is to keep referees informed of classes, tournaments, in-service training opportunities, and the like. Have photos you'd like to share? The group will enable members to post pictures of a soccer nature or referee nature which can be viewed by all age groups and aren't adult only. I started with a few pictures of the openning game at Covenant Park.

My hopes are that those who join will seriously share questions and answers that will be helpful to others. The group will not replace any local assigning organizations, clubs, leagues or the like. Instead, since all referees are welcome, additional useful links can be shared with the entire group. The calendar is helpful as well. Posted are events that are related to referees.

Now with this new web site, the Yahoo Group will serve as a means to get announcements to referees. My email address book simply has too many names to pick and choose from. Those interested in receiving valuable announcements from Craig Proffen and don't want to have to check this web site regularly, should join the group if they aren't already a member.

So, give the group a try and submit a profile (which clearly includes your full name) which will enable you to become a member.

Craig Proffen, Maryland Soccer Referees Yahoo Group Administrator
