TOURNAMENTS

SIMON DECKER REC TOURNAMENT

This Year's Simon Decker Tournament is being held Week Nights October 19-22, 2009. Assignments for this Tournament will be posted thru this web site and will NOT be included in the amount reported for games assign thru "The Arbiter". This is again a CASH Paying Tournament to the referees at the site for games officiated. Unlike all the games assigned through "Arbiter", these games will not be included in the total for a referee for the purposes of reporting taxable income.

Games are to be played at 6pm and 7:15pm Monday - Thursday Nights on the artifical turf fields. Therefore, these cash games should not be rained out.

Referees interested in officiating at this tournament need to immediately email Craig Proffen with their availability for each week night day/date. Email Craig with the following information: Full name, Time available, Age Group you normally officiate as Center referee (no A/R's), Contact Cell Phone Number. Referee assignments will be posted here at this web site by Friday October 16 at 6pm. Referees will get a confirming email on their availability and should check this web site for assignments and weather related announcements on Friday at 6pm. This is no different  from the past years and we appreciate the flexibility of those referees who officiate for us. Age groups are U7 through U14 so even a beginning referee can earn some cash.

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

MOUNTAIN ROAD REC TOURNAMENT - PASADENA

I have been asked to help with the Mountain Road Tournament in Pasadena, Maryland. The tournament is scheduled for November 21-22, 2009 and is a Rec Level Tournament. Referees intersted and available for this tournament should send their availability to Craig Proffen with "Mountain Road Tournament" in the subject line. Although the tournament is being held in Pasadena, I ask Howard County Referees to consider the short trip there. Those who make themselves available will be rewarded with an appropriate number of games to cover the extra travel distance and time. Thanks in advance for your help and consideration.
ASSIGNMENTS AND THE ARBITER

CASRA is generally the Assigning Organization for most of the Central Maryland Tournaments. At this point, with the 3 v3  MAC SoccerFest, SAC Recreational and Simon Decker Tournaments as the current exceptions, referees interested in working tournaments in the Central Maryland area will get their assignments through The Arbiter. The Arbiter is a web based scheduler for sport matches and used by CASRA. With this web based assigning system, matches are listed in the scheduler along with available referees from it's database. Assignors make referee match assignments online. The Arbiter will then send an automatic email to the referee(s) assigned to a given match as a notification of the assignments. Referees log-in to the system to "Accept" or "Decline" assignments given to them by one of the assignors. Referees are required to respond by a specific date and time or else they get locked out of those assignments and future assignments as well.
With this scheduling system, assignors are prevented from "Double Booking" referees or two assignors assigning the same referee at the same time. The Arbiter keeps track of match assignments for each referee for the year and their earnings. A 1099 is sent out to every referee who earned $600 or more on matches they officiated assigned through The Arbiter. This includes games referees may have been paid in "CASH".
Referees are required to keep their email address & profile current in The Arbiter. Since The Arbiter automtically sends an email confirmation or notification to the email address on file, it is important referees keep their preferred email address current.
